Mission
A consistent and comprehensive approach to overall wellness for BEM faculty will result in fuller, longer careers by more engaged, focused, and caring faculty, directly and positively impacting the quality of patient care and delivering as a byproduct economic benefit for BEM and therefore emergency medicine in the state of Rhode Island.
Initiatives
- Part of the EM Conference curriculum including invited speakers
- GROW (Growth, Resiliency and Opportunities for Wellness) Program for PEM Fellows with plan for expansion to other trainees
- A collaborative program between Brown Emergency Medicine and members of the Department of Psychiatry to provide a multi-pronged approach to mental health resources for our group
- A peer support program for all providers by which members refer their peers to internally trained coaches for support regarding difficult cases or life events
- A clinical arts CME program held at the RISD Museum allowing physicians to engage in art-based discussions on topics prescient to emergency care and trauma
- A grant program providing funding for faculty looking to engage in activities to promote community and shared interests
- A BEM funded pilot program using anonymized health data from participating physicians to inform best practices such as scheduling for the department and providing health tracking data to interested individuals
